The Staff

The Bull GatorFounder, Editor, Head Writer, Designer, Programmer (Is there a character limit here?) – The Bull Gator (aka Joel) became a Gators fan when presented two hats as a young boy. The garnet and gold one was quickly tossed to the side and his love for all things Florida immediately began. A lover of football, basketball, soccer and hockey, but a supporter of all Florida sports teams, TBG grew up with dreams of putting on a Gators uniform of any kind one day. That dream would be realized only with the type of jersey you can buy from a store as he soon discovered he was much better talking about sports than playing them (sadly, they don’t offer scholarships for roller hockey).

In 2008, TBG started TheBullGator.com – fueled by daily emails between friends that rarely ventured outside the world of college athletics. Running The Bull Gator opened the door for a number of opportunities and over the years TBG has contributed to a variety of sites, including Alligator Army and Buc ‘Em (now Bucs Nation) at SB Nation and Hail Florida Hail at FanSided. He has also appeared on a number of radio shows to discuss the Gators, including Swamp Talk on Upon Further Review Sports Talk Radio. A member of both the FWAA and USBWA, TBG sees this as more than just a hobby, but does maintain a “day job” he extremely enjoys.

Besides the Gators, TBG dedicates what room is left in his brain for sports to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the NHL and European soccer (particularly Serie A despite the fact that fans seems harder and harder to find these days). He also is an avid follower of his hometown USF Bulls and had a house divided during the 2010 battle in The Swamp.

One Eyed WillyGuest Writer – One Eyed Willy (aka Matt) has been around since day one of TheBullGator.com. The “idea man,” OEW is the catalyst behind many of the pieces that look deeper into Florida atheltics. He comes from an orange and blue family line and spends most of his Saturdays teaching his children what colors are approved in the OEW household. A coach as well as a fan, OEW has football at the top of his list, but enjoys Gator sports of any kind and has been proclaimed The Bull Gator’s resident lacrosse expert.

OEW’s love for the Gators is neverending, but he believes it was definitely time for Urban Meyer to go and longs for the day offensive fireworks return to The Swamp. He vividly remembers the days of Steve Spurrier, Reidel Anthony, Will White and James Bates (some of this all-time favorites) and has been attending games since before he could walk. He thinks anything less than 10 wins in a season is truly unacceptable and dreams of the return of a coach that can bring that consistency to Gainesville. In addition to the actual games themselves, OEW is a football recruiting fanatic.

EvandagatorGuest Writer – Evandagator (aka Evan) was born a Gator and has never waivered. He hopes to be the second in his family to attend the University of Florida and is positioned in a high school working to achieve said goal. EvdG has always loved sports, particularly football, basketball, and baseball – playing them all, but only recreationally. He is known to be a Florida fanatic and will defend his team to anyone, especially an FSU fan.

EvdG is new to the sports writing world and The Bull Gator is his first stint. The teams that make up the 1% left of EvdG’s sports time are: the New York Yankees, Carolina Panthers (He’s forgiven Cam Newton. Cam’s only a kid.) and Coastal Carolina University.
