Florida Gators Drop To No. 2 In Coaches Poll, Remain No. 5 In Baseball America Rankings

The Florida Gators baseball team has dropped from the top spot in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll. To make matters worse, the team that took over the No. 1 ranking is not only one of the Gators biggest rivals, but also a team Florida is 3-0 against this season – the Florida State Seminoles. FSU took over the top spot and also maintained the No. 1 ranking in the Baseball America Top 25 where the Gators held steady at No. 5.

The Gators have plenty of SEC company near the top of both polls. Kentucky, South Carolina and LSU join Florida in the top six of the coaches poll and the top seven of Baseball America’s entry. Arkansas and Ole Miss join the rest of the SEC in the top 25 of both polls.

The state of Florida is also well represented. In addition to the Gators and Seminoles, UCF and Miami remain ranked.

The Gators take on USF on Tuesday and Bethune Cookman on Wednesday before back-to-back three-game series against ranked Arkansas and Kentucky teams.
