Florida Gators Add Antonio Morrison

Will Muschamp and the Florida coaching staff have added commitment no. 16 to the mix. On Wednesday, Antonio Morrison chose the Gators over Alabama, Tennessee and a number of others.

Rivals ranks the inside linebacker as the no. 8 prospect at the position while Scout disagrees and puts him as the nation’s no. 50 OLB. Those rankings may be a little far apart for your liking, but be assured Florida got the player they wanted.
Muschamp has put together a nice trio of linebackers as part of the 2012 recruiting class and Morrison may have been the final piece. He is fast for a player his size and a solid tackler who can man any of the linebacker positions. Along with Lorenzo Phillips and Jeremi Powell, the position has a bright future.
The news may keep coming, but we’ll have to wait another day. One of the nation’s top players – D.J. Humphries – will announce his decision on Friday and Florida is among the finalists.

Gators Add Patterson OLB Lorenzo Phillips

The gravy train just keeps on rolling (wow, that felt much stupider to say out loud than it did to type, and it felt pretty darn dumb to type). Florida picked up commitment number 12 on Wednesday. The latest member of the Gators 2012 commitment list is four-star outside linebacker Lorenzo Phillips from Patterson (Patterson, LA). The 6’1”, 200-pound prospect is Rivals no. 15 OLB and no. 146 recruit overall.
Phillips chose the Gators after attending the camp at Florida last weekend. Although it was his first visit to the campus, he fell in love with it immediately. The linebacker has offers from a number of other schools, including instate LSU. Pulling a prospect of Phillips’s caliber from the state of Louisiana is never easy as the Tigers are usually able to keep them all at home, but Phillips wanted a different experience. He had made up his mind to go out of state and Florida happened to be the perfect place for him.
Phillips has said he will not visit any other schools and is completely committed to the orange and blue.
